Reader Reviews

From the first, readers know that much of the story ahead is based on lies. A young Erik Schroder changes his name to Eric Kennedy when applying for summer camp, and his decades-long deception begins. By the time Schroder commits the central ace of kidnapping his six year-old daughter, Meadow, from her custodial mother, his eloquent digressions have well distracted readers from any expectation of truth. Intensely philosophical, off-handedly witty, and completely self-deluded, Schroder charms the reader even as we share his shame.
