Reader Reviews
People of the BookExcellent book about the people who have been involved with creating and preserving a 15th century Haggadah. There’s an antiquarian expert as the main character in the present who’s story is told in alternate chapters with stories of those who had a big impact on the book in the past. The recurring theme of persecution of the Jews is well taken, but not overdone. The writing is excellent and the people really come alive. The mystery is also riveting. The only criticism I would have is that very occasionally the author’s tone becomes a little didactic.
