Reader Reviews

A whole new worldFinally!Had never read anything by Paul Hoffman, but when The Left Hand of God was featured at book club, I was intrigued. The "book blurbs" I have read just don't do this novel justice. The Sanctuary is anything but and Thomas Cale is not regular 14-yr old boy. Despite being raised in a brutal situation, his inner goodness rises and turns him into a reluctant hero. The twist in the plot at the end stands deliciously on its own. However knowing that there is more story to come, in the form of more books, I feel cheated as a reader. Yet another example of a good novel being CHOPPED UP to provide multiple publishing/sales opps for the machine that is modern publishing. Phooey! I enjoyed this book, but I will not be buying the follow-ups (in protest for this obvious and all too familiar tactic).
