Before I ever read any of the works of Edgar Allan Poe, I read this biography. I would suggest doing this to all people about to delve into the world of Poe. I was able to see this amazing and sad man from a whole different perspective. I was then able to approach his works from an understanding point of view. This book is rather small and easy to read, yet it covers all of the aspects of Poe's life and literature. There were a couple of areas where the author had
taken a few liberties, but it made for good reading.
