Every few months there’s a media report bemoaning the state of literature: hand-wringing over e-readers; fearing for the future of the bookstore; issuing dire warnings about Amazon and Apple. But while technology is certainly changing how we read, anyone looking back over this year in books should feel confident that it hasn’t changed the quality of what we read.
