Plenty of war stories are finding their inspiration in novels, such as James Dickey's riveting To the White Sea, currently in development at Universal Pictures. Similar in tone to the Dickey classic, Deliverance, it is a story of survival at all costs in which an American tail gunner, who is shot down over Japan during the final months of the war, ruthlessly makes his way across enemy terrain, heading north, to freedom.
