Last week, we told you about Toni Morrison's Home (Knopf). Yesterday, we told you about Richard Ford's Canada (Harper). Well, add two more big names to the May 2012 release list: John Irving and Peter Carey.
Irving's In One Person comes out on May 8. This is the first of two novels he'll publish with Simon & Schuster, who signed him away from Random House last spring. The new novel, explores the life of a 60-year-old bisexual man and is told in the first person—Irving's first novel from that point of view since A Prayer for Owen Meany.
Carey, another of today's most honored novelists, will be back on May 15 with The Chemistry of Tears (Knopf). The novel is described as "a portrait of love and loss" told from the point of view of a museum curator who throws herself into her job when her secret lover dies suddenly. She finds a 19th-century automaton in a box along with its creator's diary, and becomes obsessed with uncovering its secrets and its history.
