Big news for lovers of literary fiction this morning: author Junot Diaz, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his novel The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (2007), will publish a collection of stories with Riverhead Books on September 11, 2012.
This Is How You Lose Her focuses on "the heartbreak and radiance that is love," according to the publisher description. Diaz first hit the literary scene with a 1996 story collection, Drown, and early word hints that This Is How You Lose Her more than measures up to his previous work. The MIT professor will tour in support of the book and be a speaker at the BEA author breakfast on June 5.
Back in 2007, our reviewer said Oscar Wao was "well worth waiting for. The real entertainment is the marvel of Diaz's voice, which is hip, high-energy, multilingual and often hysterically funny. Diaz turns in a bravura performance." Needless to say, we're excited to see what his new collection will bring (and happy to have it just 5 years later). Will look look for This Is How You Lose Her this fall?
