The nine stories, set in Santo Domingo, New Jersey and Boston, explore the pitfalls of love through the many relationships of Yunior, Díaz's now-infamous recurring character. On October 31, Riverhead will release a new deluxe edition of This Is How You Lose Her ($40) featuring illustrations by Jaime Hernandez, co-creator of the Love and Rockets comics series—which, if you read our interview, was influential in helping Díaz recognize his calling as a Latino author. For this deluxe edition, Hernandez has produced nine full-page, original illustrations, one for each story.
