Remember back when we said that this fall was one of the biggest ever? Well, that is especially true for fiction. This mid-month Tuesday doesn't have quite as many major releases as the ones before and after it—but there's still a handful of notable titles.
Mother, Mother by Koren Zailckas (Crown). The author of the best-selling memoir Smashed bursts onto the fiction scene with the story of a dysfunctional family whose missing eldest sister might hold the key to everything.
Who Asked You? by Terry McMillan (Viking). A poignant—yet hilarious—story of family ties set in modern-day L.A., McMillan's latest stars a grandmother who's just trying to keep it all together.
Bleeding Edge by Thomas Pynchon (Penguin Press). An author as famously secretive as Pynchon isn't up for providing review copies, apparently. But rumor has it that his latest is an exciting tale set in New York City just before 9/11 and as accessible as this author gets.
